Our Pastor

Pastor Bio:

Robert Lee Mayes is a native of DeRidder, LA, and the proud son of the late Elton Mayes Jr. and Dorothy Mae Johnson Mayes. He is one of eleven children: he was blessed with 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

He is a graduate and supporter of Southern University of Baton Rouge, LA, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology.

In 1989, Reverend Mayes joined the Greater King David Baptist Church Family, under the leadership of Pastor John E. Montgomery, II. He further accepted his call to the ministry in 1993, at the age of 28, and became a member of the Greater King David Ministerial Staff where he has served faithfully in studying, teaching, preaching, training and serving for more than 29 years. He has been actively involved in various ministries to include: The Ministerial Staff; The Birth Month Ministry; Vacation/Staycation Bible Class; Home

Missions; Prison Ministry; just to name a few. Reverend Mayes has actively participated in and served in practically every member/community-related service opportunity- from administering communion to new converts, to serving meals during Christian Fellowship Events (feeding the hungry, ministering to those in need).

To further broaden his biblical knowledge, Rev. Mayes enrolled in theological studies at both- World Evangelism Bible College, and Ever Increasing Word Bible Training Center, but his anointing to preach the uncompromised Word of God, and his passion for serving and ministering to people are gifts from God that cannot be taught and cannot be bought.

Rev. Robert L. Mayes is a humble leader with a servant’s heart. He approaches and embraces every assignment (large or small) with a “seriousness of purpose” and he executes them all with excellence as unto God- although not perfect, always giving his very best.

Rev. Mayes is also a certified Chaplin with the Louisiana Chaplin Association.

Rev. Mayes has worked in prison ministry for more than fifteen years. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, he established Next Level Ministries in 2002, through which he has facilitated Healing Conferences and various outreach missions. Rev. Robert L. Mayes was installed as pastor of New Jerusalem Faith Fellowship on March 6, 2023 where he proudly and earnestly continues to live out his calling.

A son; a brother; a friend; a humble servant; a faithful follower of Christ; an honorable leader; but most of all- a child of God.
